For the first time in many weeks I won’t be riding tomorrow, my nose is blocked, it keeps running and I keep sneezing. My throat feels like it has a lump in it and I just don’t have any energy. Mind you the weather is pretty lousy round this way tomorrow so any riding would likely be a mud fest.

Not a lot more I can say really, I’m bit like a bear with a sore head at the moment with everybody pushing my button for fun. Think I might just stay in bed all day tomorrow………..

As any bloke will tell you, man flu is a very serious illness, women will even ridicule the man about this disease telling him he is not really ill. Fortunately the powers to be have made a one of those health warning films about Man Flu, what to do.

On a serious note, my head is spinning, my nose is running like the angel falls, my eye feel like there is large shutter door trying to close. I have a total lack of energy and tomorrow I have to get up before the sun does, drive 140 miles sit through two meetings and then drive 140 miles back home when what I really want to do is curl up in bed and sleep………

Hopefully my ill health will be clear by the weekend and I can go out riding but then again I have seen the weather forecast, Saturday heavy rain and Sunday showers but we all know how good they are at forecasting the weather don’t we.

Somebody pass me a tissue……………

So after Fridays mechanical failures and Mondays lack of energy, I set the alarm for an early start so I could do that early morning ride I have been meaning to do for a week or so and then slipped into the land of nod. I woke up before the alarm went off this morning and laid there till the alarm went off.

As the sounds of 6music blasted from the radio I leapt out of bed, well dragged myself more like and put my riding gear on. Went down stairs made a cup of tea, went out to the shed to get the bike out and as I was undoing the bike lock I noticed a flat front tyre……….. It felt as though somebody had just punched me in the stomach, my get up and go just got up and left, I felt completely deflated (just like my tyre).

In fact I felt that bad I did not have the enthusiasm to even fix the puncture, I just locked the bike up again, locked the shed and went back indoors and removed all my cycling gear, sat down and started drinking the cup of tea I made.

Now I know the front wheel was alright when I put the bike away on Sunday, as I rode early in the morning and it was not until mid afternoon that I clean the bike and the tyre was alright when I locked it in the shed. I am now sat here dejected and with a blocked up nose (as in cold).

This is the third time my morning ride has not happened, the second time due to gremlins, damm you bloody gremlins (Tim shakes fist wildly in the air!)

That what my weight was at tonight’s weigh in, I lost nothing and I gained nothing. A little miffed by that really as I had expected to have lost. I know I strayed a couple of times during the week, I know I should be grateful that I never put any weight on.

I never made this morning bike ride, I had a very disturb night sleep for some reason and when the alarm went of this morning my body point blank refused to move. It was as much as I could do to get my body out of bed in time to start work. I am working from home again tomorrow again so hopefully I will ride tomorrow morning.

Went out riding early this morning (well it was for me on a Sunday) and did my normal loop down by the river and out past the airport and returning back along the river. But this time as I went through into Hurn Forest I did my normal run through the tree and then instead of continuing up the gravel track I headed back towards the car park and then up in to the tree on the other side of the path and out along the fence and then returning to the main gravel path near the top of the first section gravel track. This little extra loop added 1.8 miles to the ride which gave me a 22.8 mile ride this morning and I felt quite good when I got back. I was a little concerned that heading back into the wind but I did not struggle any more than I normally do.

My only trouble on the ride was the gps, it refused to track the route I was doing, on a ride like today’s where I know the route I use it to record the distance just encase, like today I added a little extra loop into the ride. I am not sure what the problem is but I will have to investigate.

I think I have had a fairly good week this week diet wise, don’t think it is as good as last weeks but with two good rides and the possibility of going out riding again tomorrow morning before work thing are looking good. In fact they are already looking very good as I managed to fit in to two pairs of shorts today, one pair I have not worn for 2 maybe 3 years because they were to small (or should that be I was to large??) and the other pair were brand new never worn I bought them some 3 years ago and they have never fitted me. I have a wardrobe full of clothes I have bought and have never fitted, so I might end up with a whole new wardrobe this year albeit about three years behind current fashion……….

One reason for my early morning trip was so I could get back in time to watch the Formula One. I used to watch it religiously but over the years my interest has waned, it just became boring. I thought maybe this year with more teams and no re fuelling during the race it would be more interesting. But to be honest I feel the jury is still out on that one, will have to see how it goes over the next couple of races.
